Winterswijk – December 22nd 2015 – Pentair, a global leader in the treatment, transfer and flow of water and other fluids and manufacturer of high-quality fire pumps, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to supply two Fairbanks Nijhuis firefighting pump units for a new oil platform to be built in Vietnam.
Commissioned by Cuu Long JOC, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) is building a new oil platform in Vietnam. The platform is located in the Cuu Long Basin offshore southern Vietnam, 180 kilometers south east of Ho Chi Minh City. The present production is 6,000 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate and 50 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. The outcome of the project will be a continuous production rate of 150 MMSCFD and an incremental condensate production of 13,000 BPD.The new platform will be equipped with two vertical firefighting pumps designed and produced by Fairbanks Nijhuis. The pumps each have a rated capacity of 4000 US gallon per minute (GPM), with a differential pressure of 195 pound per square inch (psi), measure 30 meters in length and are made of nickel aluminum bronze with a monel shaft. In this material configuration, the pumps are FM tested and approved in conformity with the highest standards for firefighting. Each pump is equipped with a Cummins diesel engine, providing a reliable drive and an additional hydraulic starting system to meet the high standards of the oil and gas industry.
Area Sales Manager Fire Protection Roy Kazen: “The customer selected our pumps because of the pump material combination including our high quality inspection level. In addition the hazardous area execution of the instruments, the hydraulic back-up starting system and the proven design also played an important role in the selection of our pumps. The project was realized thanks to close cooperation with our agent in Vietnam - KTN - and our local office in Thailand.” Fairbanks Nijhuis’ fire protection pumps and packages are used on oil platforms, floating refineries / barges, jetties and floating production, storage and offloading platforms (FPSO’s). Roy Kazen: “Only pumps that meet the highest international recognized standards can be used as firefighting pumps. All our fire pumps and packages are produced in our production facility in Winterswijk, The Netherlands, and built according to the NFPA 20 standards including UL listed/FM approved components. We not only provide the design and delivery of the pump sets or pump systems, but we also act as a consultant and offer a wide range of after-sales services (and/or training) to technicians and operators."
