During loading and off-loading of ships the anti-heeling and ballast system is in full operation and crucial for the duration of the process. Since time is money, ship owners desire a quick turn around when in ports. The Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis' innovative anti-heeling/ballast BiFlow is the answer to this demand.
The BiFlow is a bi-directional, in-line pump/turbine. It is specially designed for the transport of large amounts of ballast water, in situations with limited space.

Applications
The BiFlow is a bi-directional, inline anti-heeling/ballast pump/turbine combination, specially designed for pumping large amounts of ballast water. The assembly is symmetrical, consisting of two counter-rotating impellers with variable speed. The driver is submerged and completely integrated.
This configuration ensures high
efficiency and controlled flow in both directions to opposing ballast tanks. Compared to conventional ballast systems, the BiFlow delivers better performance with capacities up to 3.000 m3 per hour, enabling ships to ballast quickly and save considerable time and costs in port. In addition, the BiFlow saves space; it can be installed in the double bottom section of the ship, submerged or dry.
