The patented and proven fish friendly design features a speed controlled direct drive, a permanent magnet generator and a fully reversible impeller to maintain optimal performance in both flow directions during a complete tidal cycle.

Functional description
The BI-DIRECTIONAL Turbine was specifically developed and optimized to generate energy from ultra-low head tidal streams. The proven fish friendly design allows fish to pass the turbine unscathed and improves fish migration. Fairbanks Nijhuis has the most modern design tools and knowledge to develop the best solution for both our customers and the environment.
