Winterswijk - March 23, 2017 - On behalf of a major water supplier in the North of Holland Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis supplies six pumps for a drinking water pumping station that supplies a large part of the Amsterdam municipality with drinking water. In addition, the pumping station also supplies drinking water to the municipality of Heemstede and a few other drinking water water companies. Special about this project is that the pumps can provide both a low and a high capacity, in both cases against the lowest possible energy consumption.

Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis is responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the complete mechanical installation. Included the engineering of the piping and associated valves and check valves. Senior project manager Edwin Wolterink: "We deliver a total of six new pumps for a drinking water pumping station, including motors and frequency converters. The pumps are made entirely in accordance with customer requirements. The customer wanted pumps that can be variably used. At one time, at a low capacity (300m3 / hour per pump) and another time at a high-capacity (2800 m3 / hour per pump). To achieve this we had to look at the technical limits of the pumps. That has prompted the laws of our R & D department, because even with our experience this is a special request. In addition, the entire system is integrated into the existing pumping station with minimal adjustments. Meanwhile, we have begun the phased conversion of the water pumping station. Because the drinking water goes directly from our pump to the consumers’ tap, the pumps are replaced one by one. This is to ensure the continuity of the drinking water supply. "

Low power consumption

In 2010, the company also delivered four pumps for another drinking water pumping station of the water supplier. At the time, twelve pumps were replaced by four new pumps. Area Sales Manager Raymond Lobeek: "In this tender, there was a strong focus on low power consumption. In the preliminary stage there has been extensive consultation with the customer and our R & D department in order to achieve a perfect, customized solution. This has led to a solution where we provide warranty on the entire system performance. Thus, both the pump, motor and frequency converter. The pumps are all being extensively tested  on our own test rig in the presence of the customer. Dismantling of the existing pumps and installing the new pumps is done by our service center in Beverwijk. We offer our customer a complete package: from design to installation. So the customer has one point of contact for both the pumps and the mechanical installation."
