Winterswijk (The Netherlands) – February 22nd, 2019 – On behalf of Royal IHC, Pentair has been awarded an order to supply cooling water, rinsing and gland pumps for two new cutter section dredgers. With a total of 102 Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis pump sets, this is an important dredging industry project for Pentair's production site in Winterswijk.
Royal IHC, a reliable Dutch supplier of innovative and efficient equipment, vessels and services for the offshore, dredging and wet mining markets, recently received an order from the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) for the supply of two cutter suction dredgers. These dredgers, which will be used to deepen and maintain the Suez Canal in Egypt, have been specially developed for dredging in hard ground. “The design for the new vessels is based on the cutter suction dredger ‘Mashhour’ previously built by IHC, for which Pentair delivered thirty pump sets almost 25 years ago,” said Henk Jan van Essen, Pentair Senior Area Sales Manager. “After all these years, the performance and reliability of these pumps is still very good. As a result, we were immediately contacted for this assignment. Another important reason why the end customer specifically chose for our product is that we are one of the few pump manufacturers in the world that has a large range of split case pumps.”
Each dredger will be equipped with 51 pump sets that range from a variety of Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis pump models to address specific needs of the project. According to Henk Jan van Essen, "The pump sets are not all identical, but are supplied with different models of Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis pumps. The models range from VGT, HG1, HG2 and Venus. The HG1 and HG2 are somewhat smaller pumps, but due to their large head they fit perfectly in this project.” All 51 pump sets are designed as split case pumps, which was selected by the end customer specifically for the ease of maintenance. In addition, Pentair has the capability to completely produce the order at its production site in Winterswijk, The Netherlands. “From engineering, casting, assembling to testing: all pumps are produced in-house. This enables us to monitor the production process closely and deliver a high quality, tailor made solution. A large order like this may be 'one of a kind', but it proves once again that we have the experience, the knowledge and the skills to handle this kind of major project,” said Henk Jan van Essen.
